Today is an exciting shoe-training day for me. It's the last day of the year, my second day in 5-inch heels, and best of all, I have on a brand new pair of shoes (boots actually) that I had never worn before today.

If you've looked through the rest of my web site, you know that I have always been a big Stevie Nicks fan. Every year in New York City there is an event called "Night of 1000 Stevies", where her fans gather, many of them dressed as Stevie or at least in Stevie inspired costumes. Back when Mistress Phoenix and I lived in Boston, we planned on going to Night of 1000 Stevies, and I bought these boots and an appropriate costume for the event. We never got the chance to go though, so these boots stayed in the box that they came in - I never even got the chance to try them on. So this morning when my chooser program picked them for me, I wasn't quite sure what to expect - would they fit well? would they be too tight? Was I going to be in agony all day? As it turned out though, they are very comfortable, and I just love the way they look, and even more so, the way that they feel - the lace up suede really wraps around my legs, squeezing just ever so gently. They feel almost like corsets for my legs.

I didn't manage to keep last night's pumps on through the night, they were pinching my toes which kept waking me up, so these boots are going to be staying on my feet for the night tonight to make up for it. I'm sure that they will hurt my feet somewhat - even though they're fairly comfortable, they are 5-inch heels after all, and I will be spending the entire day in them before going to bed, including lots of walking around (it's laundry day today, among other things.) Still, whether they end up being painful or not, I am determined to leave them on for the night. The laces should help - since they lace so far up my legs and hold the boots on very snugly, they will make it impossible for me to just slip my feet out of the boots or easily remove them. That should give me enough incentive to leave them on, even if I am half asleep and not thinking clearly. :-)

That will give me very close to 24 hours in them when all is said and done.
