High Heel Training Diary, Day 5
Well, I was not able to wear yesterday's shoes to bed as I had hoped. I wrote last night's diary entry a few hours before bed time, and by the time bed time had finally rolled around, I knew that I would not be able to sleep in them. I put my beach girl sandals back on instead.
Today's shoes are sort of festive, appropriate for the holiday season. :-) They're a fuzzy black material which I suppose is meant to look like suede, with silver and gold ribbons on the side. Yet another vintage 1980's pair of shoes (most of my 4-inch and 4.5-inch shoes are.)
Today's shoes fit about the same as the ones from day 2, which is to say uncomfortably, but they were not excruciatingly painful or anything like that. They're just a bit too tight in the toe box. Ah, my poor, achy feet. :-( Most of my 4-inch and 4.5-inch heels are pumps, so I expect the early part of my training to actually be worse than the later part, since my feet are always going to be tightly enclosed. Once I get in to my 5-inch shoes there will be more sandals, which will be more comfortable even though they are higher. Pumps are almost always uncomfortable - out of my hundreds of pairs of shoes, I only have a few pairs of pumps that really fit comfortably.
Today was a busy day. I had a dentist appointment, shopping to do, and a Christmas party to go to, so I actually didn't spend much time wearing today's shoes, probably only about 4 hours in total, most of that from when I got up at 6:00 am until I headed out at about 11:00. I know that I would have trouble sleeping in them though, so it's back to the beach girl sandals again for tonight. Those give my feet some much needed rest, while still keeping them in the proper arched, high heel shape.
My feet actually feel great, despite being five days in to my training. Wearing the shoes can range from uncomfortable to painful because they all seem to be stiff and tight, but when I take them off my feet quickly recover. And walking in them is pretty much getting to be second nature already, I'm going about and doing everything as I normally do, and they don't even slow me down very much. As I said in a previous diary entry, I've worn 4 and 5-inch heels a lot before, and as they say, it's kind of like riding a bicycle. I'm just not used to wearing them 24 hours per day though. I know I will be in time.
